Sprint review and planning

We played through the game and checked how all the things that were in the sprint plan were implemented. One of the new features was that characters could be called to different locations based on where dialogue is started. We were still missing vehicle and kitchen pictures from game but we had assets ready so it's matter of putting them to game. We also had some new kitchen assets that we still need to put to kitchen. We also noticed some bugs with movement system so does need to be fixed before Capstone showroom. There were also problems with some dialogs that need to be fixed. We will do the fixes and have a review next Friday before the Capstone showroom.

There were also some visual changes to UI that we need to do so things would be more clear to player. We also discussed about features to guide player through the game. In ICT showroom many visitors had problems to figure out where to go. We also discussed about art. We are gonna polish the UI pictures and fix the character animations. We are gonna have a review at the end of next week.

ICT showroom

We had ICT showroom yesterday and we were happy with the exhibition. We had some problems with the game and noticed some new problems with different screens. Our screen had awkward aspect ratio so it introduced some visual bugs that we are gonna address. All group members were on schedule so everything went smoothly. Our equipment was bit limited so we had to improvise a bit so everything looked acceptable. Most of us were not happy with the poster but it was PO's and artists vision so we went through with it. Overall ICT showroom went well and we got some feedback from visitors how to improve the game.

Preparing for ICT showroom

Today we decided how everyone is gonna pitch the project during the showroom. We also did schedule about who is at stand at what times. We also went through the entire schedule of the event so now everyone should be aware of what time we start. One of our group members also went to Prisma to get some candy for the stand.

Merging the work

Today we merged all the work to the main project. We also presented some work to the tutor like first version of the feedback system and some fixes to UI. We also had created a testing environment for the dialogs so we could test them without playing the entire game. When we merged the work we had some problems so we had to revert some changes and merge them later once they are fixed.

Assigning roles and Sprint planning

We assigned roles to all group members. For example some are gonna focus on creating and fixing dialog system and some are gonna focus on fixing game time. Artists are gonna focus fixing character models and creating 2d graphics for the UI. We assigned what tasks need to be done and when they should be done.

Dialog System discussions.

We met with to tutor and discussed about games dialog system and what needs to be done to make it a learning experience. We decided that we need a feedback system that tells to player how all the decisions affect outcome. We also discussed about specific roles that group members have and we are going to assign them on the next meeting.

Comments on Fidera Flow - Evaluation pitch

Problem or need - Were brought not so well as there was too little information on that - grade 2.

Potential customer/market area - I kind of didn't grasp who it were - grade 1.

Solution/benefit for the customer - The company already had solutions they only needed people to do them and the speaker told that their group had people who would implement the solutions - grade 3.

Oral presentation - The speaker spoke well but as said in the above there was too little information on everything - grade 2.

1.12 Researching file management techniques

Our project is done with Unity and previous programmers have made lot of decisions that make it harder to manage Unity files. Entire project is in single Unity scene and we had to find a way to manage the scene easily. We are using Git for version control but the problem is that Unity files are binary and don't work well with git so merging scenes is not working very well. After research and testing different solutions we decided to split scene to different prefabs that can be edited without changing the scene. We also will have merging session on Tuesdays where we merge all the files that require merging.

We also showed our progress to tutor but unfortunately most of the group was not present so we were not able to show all the changes.

Sprint planning 24.11

We played the game and found things that weren't working as expected. We discussed how we wanted to change or fix the problems that we found. Most were very minor but there also was some things that required a lot of work. We decided to include those things to future sprint and focus to the easy and important fixes first. We listed the things in Excel sheet and assigned tasks to all group members. Our sprint will be 2 weeks long and we will plan next sprint at 8.11

PO meeting 21.11

We had PO meeting Tuesday 21.11 at 12.00.

In the meeting we discussed what was expected from us. We are mostly gonna fix bugs and art and extend the current features in the game. We had clear idea what game is suppose to feel like since we already had discussed with the tutor about the game. We looked some of the art assets and asked POs opinion about them and she approved the art. We also told what we had already done and what will we do next. PO approved our current plans and we scheduled next meeting to be held at 12.12 12.00.

Finding other groups post

Goal was to find interesting post from some other group and report the findings to blog. We chose Meyer project where they researched about waste and management. Project was very open when it was introduced and it seems that they might try to find solutions to waste problems and that way improve the passenger experience. Some values from post were surprising and we are interested to see what solution they will come up with.

Introduction, Frans Auranen

Hey,

I am Frans, a 24 year old TUAS -student from Salo. I've been studying game develepoment and for my Capstone project I sought an intresting project that would allow me to gain game development skills and experiences, ExMan 3D being the project that seemed the most approriate. I have been playing and enjoying video games for my whole life and actually being part of the creative process to make the things that I enjoy has beem the main motivator for me. I hope we will have a great time during this project and that I'll learn new things about game development along with teamworking experiences.
